NDT is a valuable component of our comprehensive service inspections, ensuring the ongoing integrity of your storage tanks without causing any damage or operational interruptions.

Non-Destructive Testing is a critical aspect of preventive maintenance for fuel storage systems, particularly for tanks that have been in service for over 20 years. Through NDT, we can detect potential issues such as corrosion, leaks, and other structural weaknesses before they evolve into severe problems.

What Does NDT Involve?

Our NDT service falls into three categories: External Examination, External UT Thickness survey, and ASNT NDT level 3 Full Internal Inspection.

For tanks over 20 years old, we recommend an annual inspection to ensure their safe and effective operation.

  • Performed annually, this comprises preparing your tank for external NDT testing, ultrasonic thickness measurement of the external skin (including up to six points per visual elevation), and a comprehensive visual inspection of all ancillary equipment near the tank(s). We provide a detailed report complete with photos, outlining any identified damages, environmental issues, and necessary remedial work.

  • This involves a thorough scan focusing on critical areas like 5-8 o'clock positions, saddle supports, and all nozzles. We perform MPI weld inspection on accessible welds, with emphasis on saddles and dished ends, alongside ultrasonic weld scanning on dished end welds and circumferential welds at 5-8 o'clock positions. The process culminates in a 100% visual inspection of the tank, ancillaries, and bunded area.

  • This comprehensive procedure, recommended every 10 years, expands on the services above, including 100% MPI Weld Inspection on all internal welds, UT Thickness/Corrosion scan on saddle areas, and a 100% Internal visual inspection.
